How to Spend a Full Day at the Verizon Center in Washington DC
The Verizon Center itself is an extremely large building that's one-third the size of the Washington Convention Center. It was newly rebuilt and refurnished and I can say that the place looks great from interior and the exterior. One half of the building is dedicated towards use for sporting events and concerts and the other half is used for something completely different. From what I saw, one could spend a full afternoon and evening at the Verizon Center.
One could ask how can someone spend a good deal of time at the Verizon Center? It's pretty simple due to the attractions that they have asides from sporting events.
It's an arena so the main focus will be sports. The Verizon Center hosts four different sports teams for different sports leagues.
To see those teams in action, you have to be in Washington DC during a certain time or season. If you happen to be in Washington DC between October and April, you're right in the middle of hockey season which is great if you enjoy winter sports. Most of the focus during the Winter Olympics is focused on hockey.
If you're in Washington DC during that time and enjoy hockey, you can catch a Washington Capitals game. The ticket prices range from $10-$99 for each person. There are group outings available if you plan on watching the game with a few friends or family members. Be sure to catch a Capitals game if you love hockey and you're in DC during the season.
If you enjoy watching WNBA, you can catch a Washington Mystics game if you're visiting Washington DC in the summer season. The tickets range from $10-$120 a person. Catch a Mystics game if you're there during the summer.
