We ask “what’s that knocking sound”
when love comes full force
quickly breaking our defenses down.
With absolutely no more
than a flutter of the heart,
we find ourselves entangled
in emotions that catch us all off guard.
Beneath that once broken
we mysteriously start to heal,
until the mysteries of attraction
are suddenly revealed.
Our night in shining armor
our damsel in distress
suddenly become a catastrophe…
one big fat heinous mess.
Our fantasies of happiness
begin to take the form
of a never-ending nightmare
which leaves us feeling torn.
We wonder if our choices
will turn into regret,
a puddle of why and what happened
to the person I first met.
Her eyes no longer sparkle
his words no longer cure
a saddened face
from miles away
that once made love so pure.
The flutter of your heart
has been replaced with pain,
you find yourself an emotional wreck
ten steps from insane.
One thing that’s truly certain
about this great unknown
is that it’s truly baffling
when love calls you home.
