With the retirement of Bob Barker from The Price is Right the last link to the golden age of the TV game show is broken and a glorious era is ended. It's hard to see today with talk shows and soap operas filling daytime TV that there was a clear dividing line between the Morning shows and the afternoon ones. In the morning after the early morning talk shows like Today (or if you watched CBS Captain Kangaroo) the time period between 9AM and Noon was filled with game shows. All kinds of giveaway programs, star studded shows and gimmick games filled the air until the soaps took over after lunch. Some of these shows lasted many years, many more only a few months or so. But until they got too expensive to produce in the late 70's all manner of games filled the air waves. I now present to you a few of those lost and forgotten shows that you might have watched on a school holiday or on a sick day that entertained us. Here now are a few for you to remember so sit down in your sofa with a glass of milk and a few cookies warm up that old RCA B&W and come back with me to the glory days of the game show.

Brief Note: Each show lists the network it first appeared on and the years it ran. All shows otherwise noted ran on weekday mornings between 1959 and 1984

Card Sharks (CBS 79-81)

Some of you might remember this show. it's the one that had the over sized playing cards. Two contestants were dealt five cards and as each was turned over they had to correctly predict if it was higher or lower then the previous card and then that person had control over the board. The contestant who had the most correct guesses moved on to the bonus round. The reruns of this show pop up on the Game Show Network(now GSN) from time to time. Jim Perry was host. A few of the over sized cards pop up on E-Bay from time to time
