The bad part about this article series is that it is not a paid article. There is little call for this type of article and articles like this are expected to be short lived. That is why there is no pay for articles like this one. Such is said to be the case with a variety of subjects.

Always keep the rights to your articles. Submit them as Non-Exclusive! That way you retain your copyright and can always use it again somewhere else. If you don't retain your rights when submitting, the ownership and copyright of your writing would belong to AC.

The mediocre part is the amount of money paid on AC per article. Although payments can be for up to $20.00 that is not a common amount received. Short articles of around 400 to 500 words can earn between $4.00 and $5.00 dollars each. More likely however the payment will be between $3.00 and $4.00 per article.

One long article it would appear should be able to command up to $20.00, however in most cases according to reports on the Forum and links to various articles, longer articles never get more than $12.00 dollars. There are sometimes incentives to write that include prizes and requests for certain themes that could pay as much as $100.00 for one article.

Regular articles accepted for payment as well as those not paid can earn additional money for the author by having numerous Page Views.

Page Views are new on Associated Content as of Around July 2007 and are currently updated manually. Although it is said to be updated weekly, my first experiences seem to indicate that page views are updated more or more every 3 weeks.

It takes time before a submitted article is reviewed and a payment is or is not offered. The good part is getting paid for all of the articles reviewed offered and paid in one day sometimes. When an offer is made, you have to accept or decline the offer.

Should a person write one long article or several short articles?

Takeaways
  • Always keep the rights to your articles. Submit them as Non-Exclusive
  • It takes time before a submitted article is reviewed and a payment is or is not offered.
Did You Know?
"If the topics are already well-covered on AC and your take on them isn't unique enough, they'll draw lower offers. If your research is incomplete, you'll get a lower offer. There are a lot of things to consider". Amy52494

Hi Autumn, Articles that are rewritten and resubmitted can become paid articles. Good point made. I have done this a few times too. Things have changed on AC with faster page view payments. Since this was written page view counts have become consistant and pay outs sooner, a big improvement. Thank you! Geraldine

this is a great article and reflects many of the things that I have found as well, though in one short week i have already had over 1000 page views and thus earned $1.50. I have also made an average of $4-$5 per article, and only had two not accepted for minor grammatical errors that were then edited and resubmitted for full payment.

Good article. I'm new to AC and am trying to figure things out. I just love to write and don't mind nickle and dimeing it as they say. So here is a page view for you in hopes that you can make a wee bit of money from your free article. It is aggravating isn't it?
