My Ten Favorite Simpsons Characters
Taking Advantage of the Crisitunity Afforded Me by Chicago Tribune
As anybody who has visited my CP page here at Associated Content should realize by now, I am indeed a Simpsons fanatic. Yes, I was there for the very first showing of The Simpsons Movie. Yes, I have spend enough on Simpsons merchandise to clothe and feed a modest African village for the next year. No, I'm not proud of that fact, but I am proud of the fact that I know the middle names of Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa. Unbelievable at it may seem, I have never written an article on my top ten favorite Simpsons characters.Until now. The reason I am doing this is because recently the Chicago Tribune in all their misguided stupidity ran an internet voting contest to figure out who was the Best Character Ever from the Simpsons. In all the Tribune's infinite stupidity they framed the contest like it was March Madness, with a single elimination tournament in which two characters went up against each other on their way to a Final Four. To prove that the people at the Chicago Tribune were perfectly cromulent in their utter lack of foresight, their Final Four had Homer Simpson going up against Ralph Wiggum and Moe going up against Apu. The result was a final battle between Homer and Moe. As you can probably guess, Homer Simpson trounced Moe. I suspect that the vote would have been much closer had the final battle been between Homer and Ralph, with Ralph possibly even eking out a surprise win. At any rate, I'm overwhelmingly confident in suggesting that Moe is not the second favorite Simpsons character of the majority of those who voted. (The fact that the Chicago Tribune actually had Lenny & Carl as a duo going up against Apu alone embiggens my argument against an exceedingly large cranial capacity of those folks in the Windy City.)
Actually, this list won't be my top ten favorite Simpsons characters because, as I'm sure you might expect, my favorite is Homer. Since there will be no surprise there, I'm making this list countdown from number 11 to number 2.
11. Moe.
