You will find many places of pilgrimage in India, particularly in the Western part of the country in Gujarat State. The Indians are generally god-fearing people and have strong faith in all the gods. They can go to any extent for visiting such places of pilgrimage. Dakor is such a place for pilgrimage. Dakor is situated 55 miles away from Vadodara and takes only about one and a half hour to drive. The roads are also nice. Dakor has the temple of Ranchodrai, the other name for lord Shree Krishna. This temple is around 1500 years old and is having lot of importance for the Hindus. The old time story says that there was one strong follower of lord Shree Krishna, named Bodana, staying here at the town of Dakor. He was going all the way to Dwarika, around 250 miles away, for darshnas of lord Shree Krishna on feet on regular basis. Once he grew old, he was not able to walk such a long distance. So, god Shree Krishna himself came to the town of Dakor and stayed there forever. This is the place where the famous temple of Ranchdraiji was built in the town of Dakor. The pilgrims in thousands visit this place daily. The statue of lord Shree Krishna is so beautiful, you feel as if it will speak on its own any minute. The smile on the face of Shree Krishna is divine and would be engraved in your mind. The temple has big flag on its gumbaj. This flag is replaced when any donor donates an amount of about one million rupees and this flag hoisting ceremony is done through the hands of the donor and his family.
