Although I make some of my hard-earned dollars writing online and doing some consulting, proofreading, and editing for individuals and companies, I also get a few pet-sitting jobs every so often. I take care of cats, mostly, but on occasion I am asked if I can take care of dogs.

As I write this review (second week of May 2006), I'm currently dog sitting for Laika, my neighbor Elena's mixed-breed dog (and subject of two other Epinions reviews). Because she's basically an "outside dog" (which I find sad), I don't have to bring her here 24/7 or worry about bringing her array of dishes, water bowls, foods (both canned and dry), or snacks. All I was asked to do was to check in on her and her three stray-cat companions, keep her company, walk her around a bit, and make sure the guy who promised to feed the animals at 6 AM each morning is doing his bit. (From what I have seen, though, he hasn't, so I've been trying to feed the small menagerie myself.)

With Elena's permission, I've been bringing Laika over to our house to spend at least three to four hours with us in an air conditioned house. And although I don't bring her food or bowls here, I do have a doggie water bowl once owned by my late Labrador retriever so she has fresh drinking water.

My mom also made sure Laika has doggie treats for the cute pooch to munch on; we still have a few of the Milk-Bone Steak & Cheesers left over, but those will run out soon so we now also have Pup-Peroni dog treats by Del Monte Pet Products of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Pup-Peroni Beef Flavor Snacks: Product Description

If you've ever eaten Slim Jim beef snacks - or know someone who has - you'll probably notice that Pup-Peroni dog snacks, no matter what flavor, look and smell a great deal like these "people treats." They're thin, slim, and are about seven to eight inches long and come in a bright red Ziploc-style bag that can be resealed for easy and safe storage.
