The Marina Restaurant at Safe Harbor Serves Up the Fresh Catch!
My wife and I visited Jacksonville, Florida in July, and we were able to visit some of the best restaurants in the Jacksonville area. We went to Jacksonville to visit my wife's uncle and aunt. After spending a long morning on the beach, we decided that we needed to get some of the best fresh caught seafood we could find. We found a place not too far from where we were. It was just a ferry ride over actually. We entered The Marina Restaurant @ Safe Harbor in Mayport, FLWhen we opened the doors, it was probably around 12:30 or 1:00, just in time for the lunch rush, and what a rush it was. We had my wife's aunt find us a table while we stood in line for about 20 minutes before we even got a chance to order. Once we were almost ready to order, I looked back just to see if the line died down or not. The line actually was LONGER! Wow. This place must be good. Between the four of us, we got a chance to sample many of the foods that they have to offer. My wife ordered the Fried Shrimp and Oyster Basket and I wanted to check out the Crab Cakes. We placed our order, and the lady at the counter told us that it would be another 30 minutes. 30 MINUTES! Wow, this place must really be good!
We went out on the veranda overlooking the river and found my wife's aunt sitting and wondering what was taking so long. We explained that the line was incredible long, and that it was going to take even longer for the food to come out. We had been at the beach all day and the sun definitely wiped us out. We needed to get some food in our systems. After about 20-25 minutes, my wife's uncle and I went back inside because they were getting close to our number. We may have waited another 5 minutes or so, but it was worth is in the end.
