There is a recall on children's toys sold with sleeping bags by the Orvis Company located in Manchester, Vt. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission sent out an immediate press release recalling these extremely hazardous products. Even though there are currently no reported injuries, the toys are being recalled due to a possible serious choking hazard. The toys consist of the stuff/plush horse pillows and the fairy dolls. The stuff/plush horse pillow was sold with a sleeping bag for the horse. The fore legs of the horse are in an outstretched position and the back legs of the horse are in an outstretched position. The horse has a bushy black mane and a bushy black tail. The belly of the horse has a hook that attaches to the sleeping bag. Consumers should examine these characteristics of the horse to see if they are a part of the recall. If the horse has eyes that are embroidered directly on the fabric it is not part of this recall.
The fairy doll was sold with a unicorn animal sleeping bag. Consumers should check their fairy dolls to determine if the doll has a sewn on pompom nose. The doll is wearing a pink satin dress with a glittered ruffled collar, sleeves and apron. The hook and loop are on the sleeping bag and between the fairy doll's wings. The hook and loop attaches the fairy doll to the sleeping bag. The large unicorn pillow and small flat unicorn, which come with the fairy doll and unicorn animal sleeping bag, are not a part of the recall.
The recall products, which were manufactured in China, were sold through the mail order catalog of Orvis Company. They were also sold on Orvis Company's website. Both the horse and doll were sold September 2006 through December 2006.
If consumers have purchased these products they should proceed to immediately take them away from their children. They have the option of obtaining a refund or receiving a new stuff/plush horse pillow or fairy doll. If they choose to replace the products they may continue to allow children to play with the sleeping bags that came with the toys.
