Government officials are always trying to find ways to stop teens from drinking. And I commend them for that. But let's face it, like everything else, no matter how hard we try to stop our kids they are going to do it whether we like it or not.

Almost all teenagers at one time or another have drunk liquor. Either at clubs, parties, or any other way they could access it and not get caught. But going out and sneaking around to do this they are not only doing something illegal, they're acting irresponsibly and when they get caught. The parents are to blame.

We as parents can help stop our teenagers from snaking out and acting irresponsibly by allowing them to drink at home and taking their car keys from them. However, the local authorities are also cracking down on parents who allow this in their homes. Isn't that a bit of a double-edged sword?

I would think that parents who allowed drinking in their homes would be thought as helpful to the authorities in some way. The kids wouldn't be posing a threat to anyone. They'd be safe at home under a watchful eye. The parent can always lay down rules before any kind of drinking is done in their home. Rules such as whoever is planning to drink should 1. Call their parents and get their permission. 2. If they are allowed they should hand their keys over to the adult in charge. 3. No one is allowed to leave the premises until morning. 4. If they want to go home they are to call their parents for or a cab for pick up. They can come and get their car in the morning.

Having parents do this I think is a wonderful idea especially if it's keeping our kids from doing both, sneaking around to do something that they know they shouldn't be doing . And if it helps save someone's life because there won't be an underage drinker driving on the road. It's bad enough having legal aged ones on the road.

Does this mean that I am for our kids to start drinking at an early age? No, I'm not. I don't like drinking in the least . I myself am not a drinker. However, I have always thought that if my kids wanted to try drinking that they should do it at home instead of doing it elsewhere, where I don't know about it and don't have any control over it.
