A girl from the heart of cattle country - - Oklahoma - - has a soft spot in her heart for cowboy bars like one of Hampton, Virginia's favorites, the Cheyenne Supper Club. It just reeks of good old down home country style.Huge wooden booths line the wall with lots of wooden tables and chairs in front of the large stage where live entertainment plays nightly. But there is still plenty of room for dancing too; that is a requirement in any good country bar.
The lighting is subdued with lots of old lights that look like lanterns, including a huge chandelier overhead with a wheel spoke base surrounded by what seems like hundreds of lanterns. It is a nice, laid back place where you can let it all hang out and do a little bit of hoopin' and hollerin' if you're in the mood.
There is an outside deck located on a huge manmade lake. We would have gone there had it not been 105 degrees and humidly hot the day we went. It's a beautiful spot; not to be missed when the weather cooperates.
Cheyenne Supper Club is located in one of Hampton's largest strip centers with three large businesses - - Lowe's, B.J.'s, and Bass Pro Center - - and several other restaurants - - LoneStar, Joe's Crab Shack, and Johnny Carinos.
It is open Monday through Saturday between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and when the party winds down (around 1:00 p.m., but not set in stone). They offer daily luncheon specials for $5.00 each. They also offer the following specials beginning at 4:00 p.m.:
Tuesday is shrimp day; one pound for $7.95;
Wednesday is rib day for $9.95; and
Thursday is steak day for $7.95.
Appetizers and other daily specials are offered between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Here is a cross section of their menu:
