Children are a vital part of society because they are the society's future. However, sometimes adults view children as just small, cute and sweet instead of intelligent human beings who have skills with which they can and do contribute to society at very early ages. There are kids that are doctors and scientists. There are even kids who are aspiring chefs. Did you know that there are seven year olds who can distinguish between ricotta and brie cheese? Did you also know that some twelve year olds are both taking and teaching cooking and baking classes? Yes, with the success of the television show Top chef and the animated movie Ratatouille, it is time to look at another trend in the field of the culinary arts: kid chefs.

I am very excited to know that kids today are very excited about both learning about and cooking food. This is because even though my first passion is writing; I am also very passionate about food. I have loved to cook and bake since I was eleven years old. After a made scrambled eggs and a cake, I was hooked on cooking and baking. As an adult, I love to create pasta dishes. I also love to bake cookies and pies. My love of the culinary arts as a child has stayed with me into adulthood. Today's kid chefs, just like me, have a passion for the culinary arts, however, unlike me, for whom cooking and baking is a passionate hobby, today's kid chefs have dreams of making food a career. These kid chefs have palates that go far beyond peanut butter and jelly. In fact, these pint size culinary powerhouses have some interesting thoughts about food, recipes, and their future culinary careers. Let's take a closer look at some kid chefs.

Dani, an eight year chef apparently loves purple because all her kitchen tools are purple. She has purple mixing bowls, a purple hand mixer, and purple spatulas. Dani's favorite ingredients are butter and peanut butter. She also uses her baking talent to give back to her community. She raised 1,000 dollars by having a baking camp at her home. Her favorite food is steak and her favorite recipe is easy chicken fajitas.
