If you want to sell products though, the geocities method will not be a good option. If you just want a cheap looking place to express yourself with something you created, geocities or angelfire is for you.

Blogs are a valid option to "create my own web site". Blogs are also free at blogspot .com . As above you will not need to know HTML, they use something called "templates" . Like the geocities option, it is not officially yours. Someone can come along and see your blog and not like it, report you, and you may get deleted. Also google, who owns blogspot, could delete the site just because they do not like it. Bummer. Blogs are for better used for things like news or daily commentaries, or a way to keep in touch with friends. The pages of your created blog can be customized, but please remember, they are not "my own web site".
