Guys: How to Cut Your Own Hair

It seems like every 4 out 5 time I get my hair cut, I feel like I've spent too much money on something I don't like and could of done myself. So I figured out an easy way to cut my own hair at home for free. Now, at the top of this article I specified that this is for guys, but honestly
this method will work for anyone who wants to cut their hair short.

Find a Good Pair of Scissors: Using a nice sharp pair of scissors is important when cutting hair. It doesn't take razor sharp scissors, per se, to cut hair, but the sharper the scissors are, the easier the whole process will be. If you don't already own a good pair of scissors, going out and buying one will be a lot less expensive than any professional hair cut.

Wash, Rinse, and Repeat: Before you start hacking away at your mop, you want to wash your hair really well. First of all, it's a lot easier to cut wet hair. Second of all, you want to make sure you completely clean all of the dirt, oil, and grease from hair. This will also make it easier to cut your hair, and it will also make your scissors last longer. That sticky residue that scalp oil leaves behind will cause your scissors to rust and the blades to stick. It will also dull the blades much quicker because the hair will be tougher to cut through.

The Two Finger Rule: Use your index and middle finger as a guide. What you want to do is separate sections of hair between your index and middle figure, and make sure that your finger are pressed firmly against your scalp. Now start cutting away. Obviously this technique is only giving you an approximate measurement. If you cut the hair off right at the edge or the top of your fingers, you'll have about an inch of hair left when you're done. If you want your hair to be longer than that, just sort of eyeball it. Remember, this doesn't have to be exact. Believe it or not, asymmetry is in style. If you go to a top salon and ask for a "cool" hair cut, there are going to cut it messy and asymmetrical.
