Laura Bush and Daughter Jenna to Write Children's Book

As the school year is quickly approaching, two well known teachers have inked a deal to write a children's book with a school theme. They aren't best known for being teachers, they are best known for their relationship to the President Of The United States. First Lady Barbara Bush and her daughter Jenna have signed a deal to publish a children's book with HarperCollins Publishers. The deal was announced through a press release by HarperCollins Publishers.

The title of the book has not been determined yet, but it will be published in both english and spanish versions when it is released. The aniticipated release time is spring of 2008. The story will focus on a little boy who likes to participate in trouble making and mischevious activities. While in school though he gets to know his teacher who introduces him to the world of books, and how learning can actually be a fun activity. According to the press release, the story has some background input from the personal experiences of both Laura and her daughter Jenna during their years of teaching.

The signing of the book deal was also accompanied by the announcement of several charitable donations. The net proceeds to Laura and Jenna Bush will be donated to Teach For America and The New Teacher Project according to the press release. A portion of HarperCollins' proceeds will also go to these two organizations. The New Teach Project is an organization that is attempting to increase the number of people that become interested in the education field and become teachers. The goal of Teach For America is to eliminate educational inequality. Along with the donations to these two groups, HarperCollins will also donate $1 million worth of children's books to both schools and public libraries according to their press release.
