the exact same spot as the later murder. The said stabbing occurred around 4:00 in the afternoon. While the woman who was arrested could not have been present at the 1:00 a.m. stabbing, the knife she used to commit the crime was never found.

Lieutenant Paul Vernon, in charge of the downtown Los Angeles Police Department detectives, said of the case, "We also have to acknowledge the superior job done by two security officers from the Arts District Business Improvement District (BID)...were it not for these two BID officers' intercession, Chatman would have escaped and the man she stabbed would have died."

Two BID security officers were able to hold Chatman for police and provide first aid to the stabbing victim, which ultimately helped him survive. The two security officers acted appropriately and fast to help obtain the suspect and the stabbed man. The man was immediately taken by paramedics, who were called on the scene, to a local hospital and is recovering. Chatman is behind bars for now. LAPD officers were able to book her on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Her bail has been set at $30,000.

Los Angeles Police and detectives were able to find out that the dispute between the man and Chatman, the suspect, was over $5. Other than that, no additional information about their brawl was released by police.

The press release also stated that Ms. Estela Lopez is the executive director of the Central City East Association, which manages the Arts District BID.
