Restaurant Review: Chevys Fresh Mex in Kissimmee, Florida

I am not a huge fan of chain restaurants, and I rarely patronize them these days. Chain restaurants such as Friday's, Chili's, and Applebees, are generally inconsistent, cost as much as non-chain restaurants, and hurry you out the door. So, it was a pleasant surprise during a recent visit to Chevys Fresh Mex in Kissimmee, Florida, to leave completely satisfied. Here is a restaurant review of Chevys Fresh Mex in Kissimmee, Florida.

Chevys Fresh Mex in Kissimmee, Florida, boasts a fun, upbeat atmosphere, with friendly service and clean floors and tables, as well as a full service bar. Their margaritas aren't very good (and unfortunately, aren't very strong), but there is nothing wrong with a bottle of cervesa to compliment your fresh Mexican-style meal. If you must have a margarita, you will have plenty to choose from, including their new fresh watermelon margarita.

My entree was the chimichurri sizzling steak fajitas, which were delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right, while the presentation was outstanding for a chain restaurant. The spanish rice was wonderful, as was the chimichurri salsa. The tortillas were hot and fresh, and surprisingly thick. The three were just about perfect for the nice -sized portion of steak, and for once I didn't have to beg for more.

The appetizers were also done right. The chicken quesadillas and portobello asparagus barritos were wonderful starters. Other main courses I was able to sample included tequila-lime shrimp fajitas and tamarind BBQ wings, both of which are new to Chevys Fresh Mex.

For dessert, you can never go wrong with a piece of flan. Delicious custard with caramel sauce, it is the perfect end to any Mexican meal. Or you can go with their brownie sundae, which is gooey and delicious, and large enough to share.
