How and Why You Should Make Sure Your Computer is Secure

Many people are always asking me about which is the best antivirus, as I have used most software you could care to think of. I always told them the same thing, they didn't need an antivirus, just download windows defender and be careful what you do and then you should be ok. On all my computers, this tactic has served me well, for over 7 years.

I used to think that too many people were obsessed with making their computer secure. My opinion was that as long as you only went on trustworthy sites and you were careful what you download then you shouldn't get a virus. Antivirus programs did not appeal to me much because they used too much system resources. Slowed down starting time, always scanning every service and process before you can use it. Another thing was that I also didn't mind getting a virus because all my files were saved on my external hard drive and memory stick. All I needed was a good program like windows defender to remove it, and I was just as happy reinstalling windows.

This was all until I was infected with ad ware. It slows your computer down considerably and disturbs you no end, especially when what you are doing is important.

First of all we must differentiate between the different types of malignant mal-ware. There are three different types, viruses are the one that are made to cause harm to your system. Either by deleting important system files, or to self duplicate so system resources are used up rapidly and damage is done to your RAM

The five top reasons in my opinion for why I think people should make their computer secure in order of importance are as follows:

1.The most important reason you should make sure your computer is secure is to ensure that no sensitive data is stolen. (Credit card details, address, ...)

2. Illegal activity. Hackers could use Trojan horses and backdoors to gain access to your computer and use it for illegal activity, with which you do not want to be associated.
