According to The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children news release, YouTube and The Find Madeleine Campaign have teamed up to start an internet based channel "YouTube Missing Children's Channel", that will gain worldwide exposure for those 800,000 missing children a year.

Each year in the United States alone, nearly 800,000 children go missing. Whether it be abduction, runaways, family abduction, or other circumstances that prevail, the numbers are astounding and heartbreaking. Thanks to YouTube.com, The Find Madeleine Campaign, and The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, these children who are missing have another chance at being recognized and brought back to those who are suffering their loss.

The YouTube Missing Children's Channel which is located at http://www.youtube.com/dontyouforgetaboutme, is exclusively for people who have someone missing to post information and video's regarding each individual case. Each case that is submitted to the website will first be reviewed by the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children before posting to the channel. Those who go to the channel to look at the children missing will be directed to the correct law enforcement agency if they have any information regarding a case.

With this announcement of the new website aiming to find missing children, the 100th day since Madeleine McCann went missing coincides. Madeleine went missing in Portugal on a family vacation on May 3, 2007, and have yet to have any leads in her case. Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate worked hand in hand to get the assistance of The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children to start this international resource.

To post to the channel there will be no cost at all, however there will be no anonymous or incomplete submissions to the site. With the videos posted, there will also be educational materials in different languages to help prevent your child from being a victim or a statistics. There also will be announcements made for celebrities and well as First Lady Laura Bush.

This is a wonderful idea, and hopefully some missing children will see themselves if they get a chance to get to a computer and know that they are being looked for. Many kidnappers tell the kids that their parents hate them or gave them away. This is good on so many different levels.
