I purchased the Walgreens mint nicotine polacrilex lozenges to quit smoking. They are the generic version of the commit lozenge, with the exact same active ingredient. They come in 2mg or 4mg strength. You can get a 4 mg box of 108 lozenges for 47.79 in my area. Thanks to these nicotine polacrilex lozenges, I can now call myself a non-smoker.On the box it says, "If you smoke your first cigarette more than 30 minutes after waking up, use 2 mg nicotine lozenge. If you smoke your first cigarette within 30 minutes of waking up, use 4 mg nicotine lozenge."
Each lozenge is individually packaged in sheets of 12. This makes it convenient to take some with you when you need to be out of the house. Each lozenge packaged is stamped with lot number and expiration date so it is easy to verify they are fresh. To use the lozenge you simply place it in your mouth and allow it to dissolve, which takes about 20-30 minutes. It is recommended to move the lozenge from one side of your mouth to the other as it is dissolving. I actually like the mint taste, and it will leave a tingling sensation in your mouth at the spot it is placed.
I would highly recommend using this product! Some say it is pricey, but it is still less expensive than cigarettes. It is also much cheaper than chemo, and your health is priceless.
For the dosage they recommend using at least 9 lozenges per day during the first 6 weeks on this product. Then, the following 6 weeks you will be tapering down. So, I would plan on being on the lozenge for about 12 weeks.
Another benefit to the Walgreens polacrilex lozenges is that each box comes with a stop smoking pamphlet to help you quit smoking. It covers subjects such as planning your success, motivation, understanding smoking and a proven program to follow. If you would like additional help each box has an individual enrollment code where you can go to smokefreehabits.com and create a free and personalized support plan. They also provide stickers to place on your calendar to mark stop smoking achievements. In addition, they tell you what to expect when quitting and ways to cope.
