This year has seen one issue that will not go away until a solution is found. Immigration reform. We had a bill that had bi partisan support and the support of the White House that was defeated on the floor of the Senate, due to pressure from the public and just this week the President has come up with a new plan that has some very strict proposals.

One of them is that workers would be fired if they cannot provide proper identification within 90 days. This fits in pretty well with the poll results from Rasmussen which show that 79% would favor firing anyone who provides false documents, 9% do not agree and 12% are not sure. In the same vein, 74% want a person to have to provide documents if they want to rent an apartment, 17% do not agree.

On the subject of border security, 68% rate it as very important to improve the security and reduce illegal entry. Demographically speaking this view is held by 80% of Republicans, 62% of Democrats and 64% of independents.

As to how the government is handling the immigration situation, the approval rating is only at 12% with 71% saying the government is not doing enough.

As to the defeated bill, just 16% think the bill would have resulted in the reduction of illegal immigration and 41% believe it would have led to more.

The bill would have resulted in illegal aliens who are already in the country becoming legal and just 28% consider that to be a very important goal. Demographically, 36% of the Democrats think it would have been a very important goal along with 22% of Republicans and 23% of the independents.

This headline was meant to be seriously misleading. Obviously liberal Sass has a problem with the facts and is for open borders and breaking the rule of law.

The headline for this article and the polls quoted are contradictory. All the poll data quoted shows a strong public preference for ENFORCING EXISTING LAW and SECURING THE BORDER; not the headlined "Majority Want Immigration Reform". The headline implies to the casual reader that polls show the American public favors something like the bill that was recently defeated and this is not the case! Jim Grace

Hire U.S. citizen taxpayer workers and pay a reasonable, living wage with benefits and then your business will run smoothly. Employers need to start to look over their shoulder from now on, because THE PEOPLE are watching. As a citizen of this country and a patriot, use your eyes and ears to detect suspicious circumstances in your work-place or elsewhere. It really is your duty as an American to report illegal aliens who are working on a stolen or otherwise fraudulent I.D, especially in large corporations, factories or other work-sites. You can help to save the jobs of U.S. citizens. Our internal Immigration enforcement like (ICE) should be contacted. Be a whistleblower and save America from the silent invasion. This phenomenon is not going away, unless we do our part? http://www.ice.gov/about/contact.htm http://outragedpatriots.com www.judicialwatch.org The Dark side of illegal immigration http://www.usillegalaliens.com/forward.html

The open border zealots will do anything to get their point across? But now THE PEOPLE see through their years of lies and the ultra liberal newspapers suppressed news. Using the racist words and other underhand propaganda does not work anymore. Enough is enough! It is still a felony to aid and abet an illegal alien. If some honest men and women, in law enforcement, would go after the bottom feeders in the government, business and the general population that have been aiding and abetting them, by the time they had enough of a handle on it to raise their heads from the job and look around I don't think many illegal aliens would still be left. We don't need any new laws to do this either. Just some honest men and women that take their oaths of office seriously! Finding them is the first step! Federal Immigration and Nationality Act Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii) "Any person who . . . encourages or induces an alien to . . . reside . . . knowing or in reckless disregard of t
