Paypal, the Monopoly of the Internet

Hello, I am an Freelance Writer who has been freelance writing over the Internet for about the last six months. I realized I had a talent in this area, and after a couple weeks, my work starting selling. The problem with me selling my articles so fast was that I found had funds all over
the Internet. I've needed one website where I could store or have my money sent to. That place turned out to a Web Site by the name of Paypal. Over 90% of all the Internet sellers or buyers uses Paypal web site services for their own financial needs.

I cannot speak for anyone else, however, I can give you my own experience with funancial institution.

Let's Begin at the start. I was given a brand new Dell Pentium computer for my birthday in February. That was when I realized I had a special gift in writing, so I decided to start freelance writer over the Internet. I was doing very well, but I had one problem with getting paid. Most publishers or buyers did not want to send payments electronically to a bank or a credit card. However, they all used Paypal services which left me with the only one choice, I had to open up my own paypal account, in which I did back in February. I had money all over the Internet so I had all my clients send my money to my paypal account.

When you open a new account you still have to wait a 60 days before you can apply for a debit card so that you can have direct access to your money. After the 60 day waiting period was over I immediately applied for the debit card, in which I was told that I will receive in 7 to 10 days. I did receive it and in order to activate it you have to go to their website and give them a pin number and activate your card. For some unknown reason my card would not activate, so I called their customer service number. I was told by one of the agents that they inadvertently sent me the wrong card and that was the reason the card would not respond to the activation.

Without going through their bank account verification process I could not use my paypal money even to purchase stuff online and I also could not get a debit card sent to me. No matter who I spoke to at paypal they could not work out this seemingly simple problem. Our end result was that we had to open another free checking account solely for the purpose of using my so far $38.00 that I had earned via paypal. Utterly ridiculous! I really think someone needs to give them some competition. Great article!

Sorry, I never know when it is going to cut off my comments. ;) Anyway, I called customer service and explained that it was my husband and our joint checking account and we could certainly provide documentation of such if necessary. They said that they have a policy that they cannot have one account linked to two accounts and suggested that my husband cancel his account (right, so that he can no longer accept paypal for his auction sales...good solution) or I reroute my payments through his email address (so I have to find out from him about any notifications that AC tries to send me...another great suggestion).

I had a similar problem with trying to access the funds that I had made from writing on AC (luckily not too much since I had just started out). I was VERY disappointed with paypal's customer service. My husband often does ebay transactions and so he has a paypal account set up with his email address and our joint checking account (our only account). When I tried to have them transfer my paypal money into our account they said that they could not do this because it was already set up for another member.
