Addicted Themselves

In our society many addictions are running at an enormous rate. When a person is addictive to drugs or alcohol they will do and try anything to get a fix. What ever they have to do, rather it's cheating, stealing, or spending their last bit of money, they need to get this high. Even though they may not say this, their thinking is this, I will get high at any cost, because I am addicted.

I would like to talk about another addiction, one that is a good one, but is lacking in many of our churches. 1Co 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, ye (know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

Here is the Greek definition for the word addicted. A prolonged form of a primary verb (which latter appears only in certain tenses); to arrange in an orderly manner, that is, assign or dispose (to a certain position or lot): - addict, appoint, determine, ordain, set.

Lets rewrite the some of the verse to get a better meaning. They have addicted, assign, determine, ordain, and set for the ministry of the saints. Wow just like an drug addict we must also set our attention to doing the will of the Lord. We must become addicted to doing his will.

God has an purpose in all of our lives. One of the first purpose is for us to become his witness. Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

We are also suppose to care, watch and pray for each other Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

We are suppose to preach his word and to allow the lord to work through us. Mar 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

We are are suppose to be the light of the world. Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
