For the past couple of weeks I've suffered from an almost debilitating toothache. The pain has been so intense at times that I've considered pulling the thing out myself. I recall an old Deep South adage that states that you're not really a man until you've pulled your own tooth out with a pair of pliers. Oh well, I never wanted to grow up anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to enter my name into the ranks of the souths most fearless, but I simply cannot work up the kind of nerve that it takes to yank out one of my dental appendages with a set of Channellocks. Pulling teeth is a job that I will gladly leave up to the professionals. Unfortunately, I lack the luxury of a dental health package, or even a steady pay check for that matter. So to ease the pain, I turned to the power of natural medicine. After trying a few failed remedies I finally discovered a sure fire way to knock out (no pun intended) that annoying toothache. Garlic!

Yep you heard me right, Garlic. It works great as an antibiotic due to its content of a chemical called Allicin. Garlic has been used for years to treat all kinds of ailments arising from infections and since infection is usually a common factor of tooth pain, I decided to give it a go. I picked up a fresh bulb of Garlic from a local grocery store, broke off a clove, removed the papery outer peel, gave it a whack to release its goodness and then stuck it between my cheek and the problem tooth.

To my amazement it worked like a charm. It burned a little, but it stopped the pain entirely. After weeks of sucking down bitter homemade tea remedies to no avail, it took only two treatments of Garlic to pull (pun intended) an aching tooth to a dead halt.

I was so amazed by the effectiveness of this simple remedy that I decided to do a bit of online research to see if anyone else has had any experiences with it. I discovered hundreds of pages of information on how to use Garlic to cure a toothache. To conduct your own research on this fascinating subject, just Google the phrase "Garlic for Tooth Pain". I wish I had done that research a little sooner.

Allicin--my aim is true... (um just incase--- I was parodying Allison by Elvis Costello)---ok now that i've said that, I do like herbal remedies--but think of your poor girlfriend, wife, partner, roomate, or family---please open mouth cautiously after consuming garlic (and I should know, as i LOVE garlic...) :P lol

Whoa! I had no idea I got featured for this! Thanks AC!!!! Just a quick update: I had that tooth removed about three weeks ago. I couldn't take it anymore I tell you. I used the garlic every time it flared up, but it was just getting worse and worse. It took two visits to the dentist and $400.00. I had to save like crazy to get it done, but it was well worth the money. I really appreciate everyone's support here. Thanks a ton. Yesssss!!!!

I suffered a lot with the pain sometime back and tried some other home remedies in vain and got removed some. This is a great idea. I'll try it out the next time. Thanks a lot.
