Top Ten Storylines on the Guiding Light from the 1980s to Today

The daytime drama Guiding Light has been on the air for seventy years. No other program in daytime or primetime has been on the air that long. I started watching Guiding Light as a kid in the 1980s, so all my memories of the show are from the 80s, 90s, and today. I will look at the top ten storylines on Guiding Light from the 1980s to today.

The number ten storyline is Lujack falls in love with Beth Raines. Lujack came to Springfield as a trouble young man, until he met an innocent Beth. Beth made Lujack want to change his life. This was a pretty nice love story, but unfortunately Lujack was killed in an explosion

Number nine is Abby Blume murdering Roy Meechum. Abby was a sweet girl who was hearing impaired and grew up in an Amish community. Roy brutally attack Abby and she was in a coma for awhile. When Roy was on trail for attacking Abby, he got off free because of a technicality. An upset Abby pulled a gun from the holster of a nearby security guard and shot and killed Roy in the courtroom. Abby serve some jail time, but eventually was set free when authorities realize that Roy had threaten Abby before she shot him.

Number eight is when Michelle Bauer fell in love with mobster Danny Santos. With Michelle's love, Danny was able to change his lifestyle, despite his mobster mother Carmen always trying to bring Danny back into the family business.

Number seven is Beth Raines dealing with her abusive stepfather Bradley Raines. Bradley had been abusing Beth and her mother Lillian since Beth was a child. When Beth was a teenager he even raped her. Bradley eventually went to jail for his crimes, but the abuse that Beth suffered has had an effect in the way she turn out as an adult.

Number six is the Marion/Brent story. After Brent Lawrence had raped Lucy Cooper, it was thought that Brent had been killed by Lucy's boyfriend Alan-Michael Spaulding. Actually Brent was still alive and came back to town disguise as a woman named Marion Crane. Eventually this nutty cross dresser was sent to a mental institution.
