Last night Tennessee Titans player Adam "Pacman" Jones madehis debut on TNA Wrestling. It's too early to say if the signing of Pacman Jones is going to be one of those good wrestling celebrity moments or bad celebrity moments but I thought this would be a good time to look at the ten best celebrity moments in wrestling history.

10. Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy
The appearances of Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy were well done simply because they were not expected to talk or do anything in the ring. Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy just showed up, looked pretty and accompanied Shawn Michaels and Diesel to the ring for their World Title match at Wrestlemania XI.

9. Reggie White
In 1997 Steve "Mongo" McMichael turned on Kevin Greene in a tag match and joined the Four Horsemen. Shortly afterwards Reggie White showed up in the crowd and "Mongo" berated him, causing Reggie White to attack "Mongo". The match that resulted was not pretty but Reggie at least did a good job of making the feud look real.

8. Mr. T
I pity the fool who didn't like Mr. T's appearance. Mr. T was a vital part of the first ever Wrestlemania. Mr. T. teamed up with Hulk Hogan to take on "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Ornodorff. Mr. T was one of the reasons that Wrestlemania I got attention and eventually became the biggest event in wrestling.

7. Drew Carey
The WWE has an annual event called the Royal Rumble where one-by-one wrestlers come to the ring and all brawl in the ring. On one occasion Drew Carey was there to plug something and Vince McMahon put him in the Royal Rumble match. Drew Carey wandered to the ring and the two wrestlers in the ring eliminated themselves leaving Carey in the ring by himself. Carey then started to play to the crowd until the next contestant appeared. An explosion went off and the seven-foot monster Kane appeared. Drew Carey decided to bow out gracefully.

6. Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali was another one of the guests at the very first Wrestlemania. I'm sure a lot of people thought that wrestling was a joke at that time so having Muhammad Ali there gave a little bit of credibility to the WWF.

Takeaways
  • Butterbean knocking out Bart Gunn was the best celebrity moment.
  • Most of the good celebrity moments were other fighters (Butterbean, Tyson, Shamrock, Ali)
  • Lawrence Taylor had the best performance of anybody from the big 3 sports.

I can't believe you didn't mention Pete Rose in his chicken costume. Kane doesn't like chicken costumes :(

I don't recall ever saying I know Tyson. You must have been reading someone else's comment. The fact that Tyson is someone who, at least back then, never turned down a challenge, is how we came to cross paths.

I'll second the "you forgot Andy Kaufmann"

My friends and I laughed at that Butterbean/Bart Gunn knockout for months. It was so real it looked fake. Which i guess is saying something.

Kelly, whether you think it's fake or not wrestling is one of the most popular and most searched for topics on the internet. I've had wrestling articles get up towards 10,000 page views.

I'll go with Mr. T. Pacman's the worst.

Rowdy Roddie Piper....those are some fun memories. Nice article.

You have to love people who comment about the grammar in an article, but spell grammar incorrectly. I'm in Baltimore, and Governor Arnold made an appearance. My brother is the GM for the First Mariner Arena, and had just taken that job after being the head electrician there for years. Arnold is his hero, and he wanted nothing more than to shake his hand and get a photo. He couldn't. It worked out in that they needed extras, and they asked my brother to be a doctor in two different scenes. This year, Ozzy was to open up one of the WWE shows. He ended up playing a mini concert. You never know what/who will show up at these things.

I'm just curious why a story related to wrestling would make front page? Seems the fans of wrestling are a small subset of American society...or maybe that's just me... (It's all fake!!!)

You forgot Andy Kaufmann...

Jacques, I think we are making a big issue of something that never happened. Your story just doesnt add up, and I doubt you know Tyson... but whatever.

Actually, you might recall how Mike Tyson kept looking around during his Wrestlemania appearance. I won't go into details, because it's all part of a book I'm working on, but he had been alerted (by me) that I was in the crowd, and he was watching for me. I was near ringside in disguise (because I am barred from live WWE events), and visible in most of the broadcast, but never carried out my proposed appearance. It was fun to see Tyson so nervous, though.

Nice job, maybe we can work on the grammer next time.

One notable missing from your list is Andy Kaufman.
