It's actually going to be published. After rejections, canceled television specials, and shocked reactions across the nation, someone is now publishing O.J. Simpson's supposedly hypothetical book entitled "If I Did It". And the people making this happen are Ron Goldman's family.

You may remember they were recently given rights to the book. They will now be giving a large portion of the proceeds from the sales for the Ron Goldman Foundation For Justice.

Thirteen years ago when this case first appeared with the infamous white Bronco all over the news broadcasts I was convinced that he did it. The first time I heard of the previous incidents of abuse that was enough to convince me that the violent acts of murder could very well be from the abusive Simpson. Acting out against the current boyfriend? Of course it could be the act of an enraged ex-husband! I can honestly say it was never a race issue for me. It was an abuse issue.

But this case did become a race issue, right? We had a white female victim and a black male suspect. We had racist and crooked detectives on the case. There were those who wanted him in jail simply because he was a black man and must therefore be guilty. And on the opposite extreme, we had people demonstrating in support of his freedom simply because he was a black man they felt was being wronged. It was no longer looked at as a possible abuser who took his abuse as far as the brutal fatal stabbings of two people. It was black and white only. And the one potential suspect walked away.

Now we are about to have the suspect's story of the murders sitting on local bookshelves. The very idea that the person believed to have committed these murders has written a "hypothetical" account of how he would do it is beyond sickening. And now we have the family of one of the victims allowing this horrible book to be made public. The justification is that the proceeds will go to the foundation and some to the families. (The Brown family attempted a last minute plea for 40% of the proceeds but it was rejected.)

OJ is such a mess, period. It's amazing how strangely iconic that whole slow-mo white Bronco chase has become.

The whole situation was handled so badly right from the beginning. We now may never know who did it. Thanks for the article on the book. I didn't realize it was still going to be published.

You know, I saw it on Amazon and I'm really surprised by what the Goldman family has done with it. When I wrote this, I had no idea how they planned on packaging the book. They have packaged it as "I Did It" and are saying that this is the murderer's account of what actually happened. Maybe they are on to something. Either way, I think you're right. A story celebrating Ron Goldman's life would have been better. I doubt it would have received the buzz that this has. Maybe that was the point. Thanks for stopping by and for the comment!

The Goldman family isn't giving O. J. Simpson any satisfaction by having this book published. The Goldman's will have the satisfaction of getting the proceeds from this book. I for one will not buy this book. It would have been much better, if the Goldman family had written a book about the wonderful life of Ron Goldman. At first Mr. Goldman didn't think this book was fit to be read by anyone. Then he went to court to get rights to the book, so he could publish it to get the proceeds.
