Xcaret is an archaeological park that offers a lot of valuable insight as to the Mayan and Mexican cultures and heritage. There are also many different animals to learn about as well. If you are into aquariums, you should definitely visit Xelha Natural Aquarium. You get to explore ancient caves, and lagoons, seeing many different types of aquatic species along the way.

A big animal attraction in Cancun of course is the dolphins. Many of the ecological parks previously discussed offer programs that let you swim with the dolphins. They have created dolphin habitats much like the ocean, and you can enjoy them in a habitat that is similar to their own. They also offer programs for children that are too small to swim with the dolphins. These usually last about thirty minutes, during which time they get to feed and play with the dolphins. Some parks also offer dolphin encounter programs, that let you get used to the dolphin and learn all about the species.
