Years ago becoming an administrative assistant was a good career choice. Nowadays it seems that the overall duties of the administrative assistant has increased. They no longer just stick to doing a few job functions, most administrative assistants end up doing it all. This is actually considered to be a good thing. You are no longer have to be stuck in the same old job for years. Most people will stay an administrative assistant for about three years max. During that time period they will do everything that they possibly can to get the experience needed in order to advance their career. Many administrative assistants play close attention to the job that their boss has. In most cases they will end up doing the majority of the work for their bosses so they really get the hands on experience. Within a matter of just a few years they become fully qualified to do the exact same job and did not have to go back to school to do it.
