Apologia Science is one of the best homeschool science curriculums you can find. I love it for the simple fact that if I didn't teach it to my children, they could still learn it!

It's written in a way that needs no instructor, because the text itself instructs. While I do teach it to them, and enjoy watching them learn, the text simply makes it easier for children to learn and retain what they've learned.

Apologia Science is written by a former university professor, and it's easy to see that they have done research at Apologia on the best way to express ideas to children so that they will learn and be excited about learning.

One of the things that I really enjoy with Apologia Science is the experiments you can do. It's just like being in a science class at school, however, your child is getting all of the attention instead of having to share it with 28 other students.

One of the great experiments that I did with my children was about the sun. First, we learned about how far away the sun was, how long it takes for the sun's light to reach the earth, and the danger of looking at the sun for too long.

There was much more great information in the lesson, but what drove it home for my children was the experiment. To show the damage that the sun could do to our eyes, we used a magnifying glass to set a piece of paper on fire. My children tell everyone about that experiment and the danger of looking at the sun for too long!

Apologia Science is great for the experiments, because you won't usually need to purchase anything for them. Most things that you will need are things that you already have in your home. The immersion into the world of science with Apologia Science is what makes the children love learning the material.

I find the concept behind Apologia Science fits right in with our Christian family. The material is creation based Christian Science, so I know that I can teach it to my children, and never worry about them being confused about Science and the Bible. Since the Bible is a very important staple in our home, this is the perfect curriculum for us.
