Missouri Governor Matt Blunt Visits Neosho After Deadly Church Shooting

According to a recently published State of Missouri Governor's press release, Missouri Governor Matt Blunt traveled on Monday to Neosho, MO to meet with local and state officials and law enforcement following the deadly shooting at the town's First Congregational Church.

Governor Blunt said of the fatal shooting, "Yesterday, a terrible crime harmed the people of this community, our state, and our shared American values by attacking Missourians in a peaceful place of faith and worship. My thoughts and prayers are with all who mourn the loss of the victims and the citizens of Neosho as they begin the healing process following yesterday's tragic events. I commend the Neosho Police Department, the Newton County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. We are all very proud of your professional, rapid and courageous response."

The Governor stood alongside with Missouri's Public Safety Director Mark James, Missouri State Highway Patrol superintendent Colonel James Keathley, Neosho Sheriff Ken Copeland, Neosho Police Chief David McCracken and Neosho Mayor Howard Birdsong to openly talk about the shooting and safety and law enforcement in Missouri communities statewide.

Governor Blunt and law enforcement officials also provided information on what was happening following the deadly shooting regarding the shooter being brought to justice. The Governor also offered state assistance and help to the city of Neosho in any way possible following the horrible incident.
