The band originated in Ontario, Canada and was founded by Trevor McNevan who also is the lead vocalist for the group. McNevan created the name Thousand Foot Krutch in relevance to "the point in our lives that we realize we can't make it on our own strength."
This Canada-based Christian band has inspired many with their brilliant lyrics and rock/rap composition. Although they have strayed from their original hip-hop, rap core influences they still manage to capture huge audiences and influence the lives of teens as well as adults.
Their first album release in 2000, Set It Off, made a huge impact in the Christian rock industry with music influenced by hip-hop and rap nu-metal. The band's second album, Phenomenon, was released in 2003 and ventured away from the hip-hop influence and embraced more rock undertones. It was with this album that Thousand Foot Krutch broke into the secular music world with "RawkFist" and three other popular singles. Art of Breaking, the third album release, completely broke from the nu-metal influences and focused on rock/metal elements. With this album, Thousand Foot Krutch reached the sixteenth spot on Billboard Mainstream Rock charts with the hit single "Move."
Currently, the band is now on tour with their fourth album to be released shortly on September 18, 2007. Tour dates can be found on their MySpace page, www.myspace.com/thousandfootkrutch, along song previews of their new album.
