The following is not made up, not fictional, not edited, and did not happen in my imagination. It is the transcript from an actual conversation with the man who is currently Vice President, Dick Cheney. (Fact: Dick Cheney is the only sitting Vice President to ever shoot in a man in the face and not personally report it to the police.)
The interview was conducted in 1994 and was in response to the first Gulf War.

Q: Do you think the U.S., or U.N. forces, should have moved into Baghdad?

Dick Cheney: No..

Q: Why not?

Dick Cheney: Because if we'd gone to Baghdad we would have been all alone. There wouldn't have been anybody else with us. There would have been a U.S. occupation of Iraq. None of the Arab forces that were willing to fight with us in Kuwait were willing to invade Iraq.

Once you got to Iraq and took it over, took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you going to put in its place? That's a very volatile part of the world, and if you take down the central government of Iraq, you could very easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off: part of it, the Syrians would like to have to the west, part of it -- eastern Iraq -- the Iranians would like to claim, they fought over it for eight years. In the north you've got the Kurds, and if the Kurds spin loose and join with the Kurds in Turkey, then you threaten the territorial integrity of Turkey.

It's a quagmire if you go that far and try to take over Iraq.

The other thing was casualties. Everyone was impressed with the fact we were able to do our job with as few casualties as we had. But for the 146 Americans killed in action, and for their families -- it wasn't a cheap war. And the question for the president, in terms of whether or not we went on to Baghdad, took additional casualties in an effort to get Saddam Hussein, was how many additional dead Americans is Saddam worth? Our judgment was, not very many, and I think we got it right.

It escapes me that there is still anyone who is not convinced of the criminality of the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld war cabal, and that there is anyone who doesnt see the immediate need for the removal of all of them...

And the Kurds ..... Mr. Cheney why they should not have the right to their land the land granted to them by the God. No one is above the law of our Lord, not even you. Turkey has dedicated large sums of resources in Wshington to be used against Kurds since 1960, and specifically now to block the implementation of article 140 of the Iraqi constitution regarding Kirkuk city. Unfortunately Kurds can not afford to counter that financially, This blessed nation has the God on its side. Kurds have suffered and sacrificied for too long and it is time and the responsibility of civilized world to protect the Kurds from tyranny, fundamentalism, and the terror they have been subjected to on the hands of various governments of the regio.Turkey after 80 years of statehood has failed to turn into a full fledged democracy. She has failed to deal with her past and failed to recognize non-Turks and non- Muslims. In fact it has remained the tyrannical ( secular?) state based on denial of others and

This only makes the slaughter of the US soldiers even harder to accept. THEY KNEW the problems the troops would encounter, and instead of protecting the troops from these KNOWN ISSUES the White House ALTERED existing military plans for the Iraq invasion which disregarded these dangers and actually the new plan put troops in GREATER DANGER!!!!!!!!

Wasn't this just on the Daily Show....

It seems that the administration knew it was going to a difficult war, however, they make it seem like they had no idea. In addition, they seem to have planned the war against Cheney's statements here. It all seems so fishy. What are the potential benefits of losing a war and maintaining an extended military presence there? Could it be to take money from the government and line the pockets of the military industrial complex?

Again, this shows how dangerous our current administration is, but then again, we should expect nothing less from the team that orchestrated the 9/11 "attacks" that sacrificed thousands of our own citizens as a stepping stone to taking over the Middle East.
