If you have ever gone to a Trade show, whether it was Industry related or just a jumble of many different items, then you've no doubt witnessed what exactly goes on. Now think of the size of the crowd you were in. We're talking lots of people here. If you have ever considered starting a small side business, such as selling gift baskets for extra income, a Trade show is a good place to start when you need to know how well your merchandise can sell. It doesn't matter if it's a small, local Trade show or a larger, more organized affair. But what kind of gift basket will you sell?

We've all heard of coffee gift baskets and tea gift baskets. And admittedly, people will usually prefer one over the other. But there are some who are a fan of both coffee and tea. There's your target crowd. In order to promote a successful product, it has to have a viable market. A coffee and tea gift basket may very well fill that need. By combining the two, you could open yourself up for a lot of orders, and that's exactly what you are wanting to accomplish.

If starting a small side business of selling a coffee and tea gift basket is something you think you could do, then by all means do it. But get everything in order first. Begin by looking at your budget and decide how much you can spend to start out with. Once you have that figure then you can start pricing materials. It's time to think about all of the different themes you can present with a coffee and tea gift basket. By doing this, you can come up with a better idea of what to look for. Make a list of what you want to include; paying attention to detail. If you are starting from scratch, then you'll need baskets, fillers in the form of different coffees and teas, gifts appropriate to the theme of the coffee and tea gift basket, snacks, several styles of cellophane for wrapping, ribbons, bows, gift tags, etc. The only way to get an accurate estimation of costs is to know exactly what you'll require.

I know a woman that ran a real "hole in the wall" store. She later turned it into a profitable gift basket business and evidenually earned enough to move to better digs. A good way to find cheap baskets to keep costs low is to shop yard sales.

Curious about the profitability. If you have to pay to get in/set up a booth, how much do you have to sell to recover that outlay?
