AceDesign Pro - Convert a Photo to Black and White and Apply Rays of Light

In this AceDesign Pro tutorial I will show you how to convert a photo to black and white and apply rays of light to it. I know this sounds like a lot but really, this can be done in just a few minutes. AceDesign Pro is a great program to use to edit your photos. Please see the image that I have provided to see the ending results of this tutorial.

If you do not have AceDesign Pro and would like to download it, please visit tucows.com and search for AceDesign Pro. This program is fairly small in size so it will not take long to download and won't take up much room on your computer.

Go ahead and open your AceDesign Pro program. Go to the top of your program and click File > Open. Locate the photo on your computer that you want to open and convert. Then click the Open button. Your photo will open in your AceDesign Pro program.

First, we will convert the photo to black and white. Then we will apply the light to it. Go to the top of your program and click Image > Adjust > Hue, Saturation and Lightness. That will bring up the box that you will need to convert the photo to black and white. You may have to adjust differently to get the black and white look that you are going for but here is what I used to achieve the black and white look for my photo.

Hue - 180

Saturation - Negative 202

Brightness - Negative 23

Once you have your settings to where you want them, click the OK button. So now we have converted your photo to black and white. Next, we will apply the light to your photo.

To apply the light, go to the top of your window and click Filter > Light Effects > Star. The properties box will come up. There are no numbers to enter for these fields, so you will need to look at the image that I have provided to see where the bars need to be. Please see image titled Star Properties. Click the OK button to apply the light to your photo.

You may want a different light effect for your photo. If you do, just play around with the bars to get the effect that you want. Moving each bar will give a totally different effect. Moving a bar just the slightest bit will give it another effect.
