Nestled among the exquisite beauty of the African countryside you will find an extensive array of animals. From Aardvarks to Zebras, there are animals of various shapes and sizes that you will see roaming freely in their natural habitat. Africa is home to some of the most amazing animals in the world.

The fastest land animal in the world is the located in the Southwestern and Eastern Africa. Even with speeds that can reach 100 km per hour, the Cheetah usually only catches and disables their prey about half of the time. Although they can be found in packs with brothers from the same litter, the generally are solitary animals. Another amazing cat that can be found in Africa is the Lion. The Lion is a predator of the Cheetah and different in many ways. The African Lions are part of a pride they are not solitary animals. The Lions rely on their strength and force to catch their prey.

There are two types of African Elephants the African Savanna and the African Forest. Although they are not natural predators or prey, the African Elephants are endangered because of the expanding population and growing ivory trade. The Elephants live in tight social units south of the Sahara where food and water are abundant. From the largest animal in Africa to the tallest: the Giraffe. With heights reaching 18feet, the Giraffe prefers the leaves of the Acacia trees. They are not predators or prey as adults but their calves are preyed upon. The risk of extinction is high due to the growing population and being hunted for their tails, coat, and meat.
