The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued an immediate release concerning the recall of metal folding chairs. The name of these metal folding chairs is Bistro Chairs.Cost Plus Inc., distributes the Bistro Chairs out of Oakland, California. They were manufactured in Taiwan. There are about 24,500 units of this product involved in the recall.
The Bistro Chairs are being recalled because they contain faulty rivets. According to Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary rivets are metal pins used to fasten flat pieces of metal together. These faulty rivets can cause the chairs to collapse causing anyone sitting in them to tumble and fall to the ground. Thus far there have been seven reported cases reporting collapsed chairs. One of these reports involved an individual who suffered minor injury. Even thought the injury was minor consumers should respond immediately to prevent further injury which could include broken legs, arms, and possibly neck. Worse an elderly man or woman may suffer from a broken hip, which could pose a very serious medical problem for him or her. Consumers must act immediately to avoid these hazards from occurring.
The Bistro Chairs were sold in four painted colors. Those colors include red, blue, white and green. There are SKU numbers printed on the consumer's sales receipt. These numbers are 390225, 390228, 390229, and 390230. The chairs were sold at Cost Plus World Market store all over the nation. The months in which they were sold were January 2007 through June 2007. The Bistro Chairs sold for around $40 during those six months.
Once consumers have identified the Bistro Chairs they purchased as being a part of the recall, they should stop utilizing the recalled products immediately. They will receive a full refund if they return the chairs to a Cost Plus World Market store. If they are in need of replacement chairs, they can shop around, utilizing their refund, for other chairs that are similar in design or function.
