Tips for Wearing Crocs at Walt Disney World
Many people swear by Crocs for their Walt Disney World vacation. Some people return from their vacations swearing at their Crocs. What makes the difference? Well, you'd be hard pressed to know unless you've interviewed both parties
exhaustively. But I hope to give you a few pointers to keep your tootsie's happy at the Happiest Place On Earth.
Fit
According to Crocs.com, Crocs should not fit your feet the way other shoes do. They should be loose, and generally not touch the sides of your feet or your toes. If you buy the wrong size the Crocs will be more likely to rub your feet, which may cause blisters.
Crocs also has a multitude of different models, some of which are more comfortable depending on the shape of your feet. For me, the Beach model is the most comfortable for continuous walking and has the bonus of a heel strap that can be removed or flipped to the front to give my feet more room. That's especially handy for those hot days that make your feet swell.
Breathe
Even though most Crocs models are punctured by holes allowing air to pass through as you walk, sweat does form on your feet and can make shoes stick. This causes blisters and any number of uncomfortable situations. I recommend sliding your feet out, at least partially, while you're sitting in attractions and on slow, stable rides (rides where your shoes won't fall off or out). You can also slide your feet out while eating, and even while standing in line. I don't recommend actually taking your Crocs off outside of your hotel room- that's not safe or sanitary- but sliding them off now and then shouldn't be a problem.
Extras
You may not want to sprinkle powder on the bottom of your Crocs- that might make them a bit slippery. But consider bringing a small container of cornstarch baby powder along to rub along the top of your foot. If your feet start sticking to your Crocs, this should take care of it right away.
Band-aids are something you should carry with you anyway when you're on vacation, but make sure you have a few sizes depending on where you tend to blister. Large band-aids for the heel, small ones for your little toe. I've never used moleskin, but that could be another good option.
