Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium

You must visit the Pittsburgh Zoo if you come to Pittsburgh. The Zoo is actually pretty new, established just 7 years ago. The aquarium gives a home to more than 40 aquatic exhibits. The zoo is Pittsburgh's only public aquarium and also makes Pittsburgh one of only six zoos in the united States to also have a major aquarium inside. There are more than 4,000 aquatic animals from all over the world housed within its tanks. Come see the stingrays, penguins, exotic fish, and an electric eel. Also in the aquarium are simulated coral, the Amazon Rainforest Exhibit, which is a two-story recreation of a flooded Amazon rainforest. It includes plantlife, piranhas, and best of all, a stingray tunnel. The stingray Tunnels are an educational exhibit where kids can crawl through a large, clear tunnel. While crawling, they can watch the stingrays swimming both alongside and above them. Four hundred species are represented within the Zoo itself, and includes thousands of animals overall. 32 endangered or threatened species are on display.
