With an estimated one-third of the American population being severely overweight or obese, why are there limited resources to get products to assist these people?Obesity and overweight people deserve to be able to have products available to them to handle their needs. It is time that more manufacturers address this issue.
Plus size clothing has been accepted as part of the norm for many years now. You now can go into most any clothing store and find clothing all the way up to 4X. That was not the norm 10 to 20 years ago. Extra large used to be the largest size available back then.
If the clothing manufacturers can recognize this as need in our society, then why can not the other industries?
Have you ever tried to go into a department store or other stores and try to purchase a step stool that can handle your weight? A normal step stool barely accommodates a person with a little extra baggage, let alone accommodating someone of the oversized community. Most step stools bend and crumble under the weight. Step stools are available to handle weight up to 1000 pounds, but you have to search hard to find them.
Have you ever wondered how an obese or over weight person does tasks that we take for granite such as, clipping toe nails, scrubbing their feet or backs, wiping there butt, or for that matter finding a toilet that accommodates their extra large bottom?
What about outings for the oversized population? Where do they sit? Have you ever been at an outing and noticed the obese or overweight person standing the whole time? That is because there is not a chair sturdy enough or wide enough for them to get comfortable in. Being a little overweight myself, I have bought those little folding chairs that come in a bag, only to have them fall apart under the weight. I know how embarrassing that can be. I can not imagine being extremely overweight or obese and not be able to sit in any chair, or to have people cringe at the thought of you sitting in their chairs. I am ashamed to admit, but I have cringed at oversized people sitting on my furniture. I found myself wondering if the chair was going to cave in under the weight.
