There are many different types of restaurants. Weather it is formal or casual, we encounter horrible or excellent restaurants. We do not think that we are evaluating a place when we walk in but we all do. My favorite restaurant to eat at while I am in the Phoenix area is Ono Hawaiian BBQ. Ono Hawaiian BBQ is a perfect example of an excellent restaurant.

"Ono" meaning "delicious" in Hawaiian, reflects exactly what their food is like. Ono Hawaiian BBQ is located at various locations in California and Arizona. I have been to the location at Avondale, Arizona. Reservations are not needed for it is a fast food restaurant. The location in Avondale has been around for no more then 2 years but has already been a big hit in the area and have many "regulars". The atmosphere of the restaurant is probably not what most would expect a Hawaiian restaurant to be like. There are no hula dancers, Tiki torches or palm trees. As a matter of fact, it is exactly what most restaurants are like in Hawaii. That is what makes it such a special place for me.

The service is excellent. The people who take your order always greet you with a warm, friendly smile. Most of the employees are from Hawaii and the owners are from Hawaii as well. This makes us know that we are getting true Hawaiian food and not just an imitation. The food is served hot off the grill and the macaroni salad that comes with every meal is the perfect temperature. Hawaiian restaurants are known to give very big portions for a great price and this

one is no different. For example, a plate of 4 big pieces of chicken, 2 scoops of rice, and scoop

of macaroni salad is priced at $5.99. The menu is set up in 9 different categories. Chicken, Beef/Pork, Island Favorites, Seafood, Appetizers, Salads, Noodle Soup, Burgers, and Beverages. There is a great variety and gives everyone a taste of the types of food and favorites that are served in Hawaii.
