Irving Arts Center Members' Show

The Irving Arts Center is having their Seventh Annual Art Connection Members' Show through Sept. 2nd.

The Irving, TX free event features works in various media by more than 150 artists at 3333 N. MacArthur Boulevard, Suite 300.

The exhibit is created by adult and student members. The center focuses on 20 exhbits per year against a backdrop of fountains and columns.

In unrelated local news, Summerfest at Gaylord Texan Hotel is being held weekends through Sept. 3rd at 1501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine.

Activities include "Motion in Air" and hours are 9 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for the free event. Check out the aerial acrobatics being performed near the glass ceiling.

Cost begins at $218 for two adults and two children 12 and younger. Additional cost for per adult 13 and older is $39.00. This includes one night standard room rate, taxes, resort fee, self-parking, and breakfast.

In other art news, Webb Gallery Hooplah features found art through Sept. 9th at 209-211 W. Franklin Street in Waxahachie, TX at the corner of Franklin and Rogers (one block SE of Elm and Main). The event is free. The exhibit houses a large collection of self-taught artists, old fraternal lodge objects, and anonymous vintage art, according to Pegasus News. The gallery also hosts various events such as speaking engagements and performances among other activities. Hours are Saturdays and Sundays 1-5.

There is no age limit.

According to MQ Magazine: "The objects (lodge fraternity members) chose to buy, make, or decorate give us some indication of their taste and character and a glimpse into their unwritten lives."

You might find an old ballot box on sale from a fraternity lodge in Kylie, for example.

A product of anonymous vintage art is the 1934 U.S. American poster for the Chicago World's Fair or the "Clown With Cane" in 1950.
