So, you've gone green, not in a Kermit the Frog kind of way but in a save the planet kind of way and you no longer clean with chemical filled cleansers, you bought yourself a hybrid car and even recycle your plastics, but have you gone Eco-friendly between the sheets? How is your sex life impacting the Earth? If you haven't already figured out exactly how to go green in the bedroom here are some good tips for greenwashing your sex life. Eco-friendly Sex Toys
It may come as a surprise to some environmentalists but sex toys are not environmentally friendly, generally speaking. Many, if not most, adult toys are made from polyvinyl chlorides, known as PVC, that release toxins into the air.
The chemical used to soften the hard plastic is phthalates. Phthalates are currently being investigated for causing cancer, harming the reproductive system as well as harming the planet.
Most sex toys found in ordinary sex shops come with a warning label that reads, "for novelty purposes only." This means they aren't actually manufactured with the intent of being used on one's body. To greenwash your toys purchase toys that are made from glass, metal or silicone. You should also put a condom on your toys if you share them with other people but you should also use them to protect yourself from chemical interaction.
Babeland.com, an online adult sex toy shop recently started selling an "Eco-Sexy Kit in an effort to promote green sex. The kit includes a phthalate free vibrator, massage candles made from soy, an all natural lubricant and all natural condoms. They also have a library of information that explains what different kinds of sex toys are made of.

Eco-friendly Bed Sheets
Earth Erotics is an online adult store that sells green eco-friendly sex toys but pride themselves more on their organic cotton sheets. The cotton is organically grown in India on small farms. The owners of Earth Erotics has posted a statement on their website that says, "By purchasing their cotton at a better price per kilo, we help support local and economically sustainable production.."
