Ohio to Auction Off Hundreds of Surplus Vehicles

According to a recently published ohio.gov press release, more than 280 vehicles will be put up for auction at the State and Federal Surplus auction on Saturday, August 18th at 4200 Surface Road in Columbus, Ohio.

The vehicles that are expected to go up on the auction block aren't just cars. In fact, the state will be auctioning of cars, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, and

 boats.

The vehicle auction will open at 10:00 in the morning on Saturday, August 18th. The gates will open at around 8:00 so prospective bidders can look at the vehicles up for auction. However, for those who want to look ahead even sooner can visit and inspect the vehicles between August 13th to the 17th. All the vehicles, boats included, may be turned on and possibly test driven on August 17th between 8:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon. Bidding still will not start until the next day.

For those interested in bidding, a minimum payment of 25 percent of the final cost is due on the day of the auction. The rest of the money must be handed over by 2:00 in the afternoon on the following money. For those who deposit the original 25 percent and then fail to pay the rest of the due payment, the deposit will be turned over to the State of Ohio in the event of a late payment.

For those who follow up with their payments successfully, they will be able to purchase a 30-day temporary license tag at the auction for only $10.50.

The purpose of the surplus property auctions is to provide Ohio residents with high quality vehicles, including boats, at reasonable prices. The vehicles may be slightly damaged or done being used by the government. All vehicles at the auction have been inspected for quality and the auction promises there will be no lemons.

Surprisingly, surplus vehicle auctions has brought in nearly $3 million for the state's 2007 recovery fund already.

As previously stated, all vehicles are donated by the government and then made available to other state agencies, colleges, tax-supported agencies. All of the other vehicles and property are sold at public auctions at good prices.
