International Children's Art Contest

The Fort Worth, TX Community Arts Center has been selected to host an International Children's Art Contest through Aug. 30th.Hours are 9-5 Mon.-Fri., 10-5 Sat., and noon to 5 p.m. Sun.
The address is 1300 Gendy Street (southeast of Lancaster and Montgomery off Burnett Tandy) and phone number is 817-737-2422 for the free event suitable for all ages.
The Center also offers venues for dance, theater, rehearsal space, and poetry and exhibits are always on the main floor. It has been called a place for the celebration and creation of ideas.
Also through the end of August over in Dallas locate some fine art when you go to Banks Fine Art featuring an exhibit called "You Went Where?" of global travels from various artists. The gallery is located in the Dallas Design District, 1231 Dragon Street and hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday and 11-4 Saturdays. The facility has featured over 200 traditional and impressionistic oil paintings from U.S. and European artists since its opening in 1980.
The free August exhibit is for all ages.

Many artists have been inspired by their travels from Hungary to India, like Sonia Reid who traveled to Africa and is a member of the Society of Animal Artists.
In other news, the annual Lone Star Ride to raise funds for AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) awareness and prevention will be held Sept. 29th and 30th in Austin, TX.
For the first time the organization is offering an email marketing system free to all participants to help raise money. Letters include links to online donations and you can easily personalize letters with your specific info, story, and picture (s). Last year's largest fundraiser raised over $11,000 using this system, according to staff. The cost is free.
