On August 8, I was lucky enough to experience my first professional Swedish massage at Wet, which is the spa in the Treasure Island Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. My husband purchased the massage for me as a belated Mother's Day gift. I was excited about the treatment, but a bit apprehensive at the same time, as I had never experienced a massage before and wasn't quite sure what to expect. I actually booked the massage on August 7th, and the receptionist was able to accommodate me for 9 a.m. on the 8th. I was asked to arrive about 30 minutes early for my treatment.

At 8:30 a.m. on the 8th, (ridiculously early for Vegas standards) I realized how lucky I was that my body had not adjusted to the Las Vegas time zone yet. It felt like 11:30 a.m. to me, and I appeared to be much more alert than some of my fellow spa-goers. I was greeted by a very nice receptionist at Wet who checked me in. After a quick call to the front desk of the hotel, my massage was charged to my room, to the tune of $110.00 for 50 minutes, not including a tip, which I left in cash for my therapist. I was directed to walk through the workout room and enter the door to the Women's Spa at the end. The workout room appeared to be very well appointed with all the latest in gym equipment, including treadmills and elliptical machines with private TV's. Because I was paying for a treatment, I could have used the workout equipment at Wet for no charge if I had been inclined to do so. However, this was Vegas and I had no intention of working out!

I entered the Women's Spa and was greeted by another receptionist. She gave me a thick terrycloth robe and a pair of sandals to change into. She also gave me a tour of the facility. It was decorated in soothing hues of aqua, cream and brown. There were fragrant candles burning. Overall, the atmosphere was extremely relaxing. I was impressed to see a sign hanging near the reception desk stating that the use of cell phones was not allowed at all in the facility. I was issued a locker, which was made out of beautiful wood, as opposed to the standard locker room look, and was shown to the shower area.
