If you find a data entry company in your hometown I would go in and ask if they are accepting applications or hiring at that time. Bring in a professional resume and fill out an application. If they are going to consider hiring you, they will call you back and set up a testing date. You will have to go into the company and past a data entry test. I can type about 85 WPM and I couldn't pass the data entry test. This is because it's half numbers as well as letters. This means that you have to be familiar with a 10 key calculator and you need to be fast at it. I would suggest practicing for long periods of time before you take the test. They will test you the minimum passing score on the test. You can download different keystroke tests for data entry.
You will also need to have a desktop computer which the company may or may not supply for you. Sometimes they will give you a computer and take the money out of your paycheck every month for the computer. You will also need a reliable internet connection. Whether or not you get to work relies completely on if the internet is working correctly or not. If you are experiencing a lot of problems I would highly suggest disconnecting your modem for several minutes. Problems can occur, but not very often.
