Living at the beach, I have always spent my summer's down at the ocean. It doesn't quite feel like summer without playing in the water and sitting in the hot sand. This past March I had a baby and was nervous about taking her down to the ocean but I really wanted to introduce her to it. I spoke with her pediatrician and made sure to take all of the necessary precautions. The biggest thing she told me to use was sunblock. Here is my review of Aveeno's new baby sunblock.

My daughter has pretty sensitive skin to lotions and other creams being applied to it. For this reason I was nervous about which sunblock to use on her. Her pediatrician recommended the Aveeno baby brand as it was specially made for baby's sensitive skin. The bottle of the sunblock says that it is "fragrance free, waterproof and helps prevent moisture loss." It also says that it is "mild as water." Sounded pretty good to me. It is also made with colloidal oatmeal which is supposed to be great for the skin.

Of all the sunblock's on the shelf this one was the most expensive. Aveeno products are generally a bit more expensive but I figured if this one was as good as it claimed to be, it would be worth it. This cost me about $12 after tax for a four ounce bottle. The other ones were all under $10.

The first time I used the sunblock on my daughter it worked great. The only complaint I had was that it didn't rub into her head very well. She doesn't have much hair so I have to put sunblock on her scalp to keep it from getting burned. It didn't rub in well and most of it washed off when we got into the water. However, she did not get burned so I assume something seeped in. It also went on smoothly and didn't leave her skin feeling greasy like most sunblocks do.

The second and third time I used the sunblock my daughter broke out in bumps on her face and scalp. I used it one other time to make sure it was the sunscreen and not another irritant and she did break out in bumps again. I was very disappointed as I bought this more expensive brand because it was supposed to keep that from happening.

Excellent review! Very helpful - I had no idea that Aveeno had sunblock. Yay! My kids are allergic to fragrance, but I find myself applying the other sunblock anyway and risking a rash. Thanks. :-)

This is a good review. It can help other parents out there so they can avoid this sun screen. Sophie
