Today is my one-year anniversary for writing for Associated Content. So, in the grand tradition of TV shows, I'm going to put out an article with highlights from the past season. Thank you in advance for indulging me as I pat myself on the back. And feel free to click on the links to see a story you might have missed along the way.

Most Hits
Ten Reasons You Should Not Buy a Sears Appliance: This was an article solicited by the site. It's received 3,957 hits and counting so I like to think AC got its money worth. I think it got picked up and linked to on various sites because it's still generating comments in addition to page views. It was a fun piece to write.

Most Comments
Why I Hate Home Improvement Stores: This generated 39 comments and surprisingly to me they were almost all in agreement with what I wrote. I enjoy the back-and-forth nature of the comments section and I was expecting to be challenged on this but it never really materialized. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Highest Rated
It's Fun to Have Fun but You Have to Know How: My Favorite Dr. Seuss Books and Thanks for Fixing the Dryer, Dad both have a rating of 4.7 stars. I'm especially pleased about the dryer story, because when I wrote it I didn't know if it would have any appeal to those who didn't know my dad personally. Forget the Graveyard or the Cadillac Ranch - Give Me a Burial at Sea got up to a 4.9 before the downraters got to it.

Top Paid
Burying Bowie: Former MLB Commissioner Left a Lot to Be Desired got me a $50 payment because it was judged to be a strong submission. But then AC did not make it a top story or feature it anywhere on the front page and it only got 133 hits. It just goes to show the power of being featured on the front page.

People ask me which stories I've written are my favorites. This is a tough question for me because I'm fond of all of them, even the ones that didn't quite turn out the way I hoped. But since I've been asked, I might as well try to answer...

Wow, that year flew! We always read your articles. Sometimes we just can't put our "comments" into words. Sometimes we are in too much of a hurry to comment. Please know we are sending you a big pat of the back! Love, T, R & V

Congrats on your anniversary. The "Thanks for Fixing the Dryer, Dad" article was my favorite, and one of the best articles I have read anywhere, anytime. I'm sure that you did not mind that I passed that one around.

All the hyperlinks in the story worked in the preview but AC's automatic hyperlinks destroyed two of them here. The Bonds' one still works. If you want to see the Home Improvement story just click on my name and scroll down to June 7th of this year.
