Fort Worth, TX' Art on the Boulevard Gallery is focusing on the year of Woodstock in an exhibit going on through Aug. 18th.

Works in various media by artists commemorate the year 1969 at 4319A Camp Bowie Boulevard (east of Hulen) for this free event. The facility focuses on expressionism to photo realism. Hours are Tues.-Sat. 11-5.

1969 marked the year the famous Woodstock Festival took place on Aug. 15th. The farm next to where the infamous event took place was recently put up for sale for over a million dollars. The festival featured such greats as the late Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, and Joan Baez among many other legends. The largest rock festival ever conceived under the stars, Woodstock was three days of mud, sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. There was even a baby born in the middle of it all. The locale in upstate New York hosted over 500,000 guests, something they weren't ready for. Parking was a huge problem with traffic jams several miles long.

Some of the greatest films of 1969 were "Alice's Restaurant, " "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Easy Rider," "Hello Dolly!" "Midnight Cowboy," "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie," "True Grit" and "The Wild Bunch" among others.

Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first men to walk on the moon that year.

Prize-winning books of 1969 include The Godfather, Bears on Wheels, and Alexander among many others.

The wooden chest, The Haunted Mansion of Disneyland was sold at that park that year. It took several moves to open.

"When I was a kid (in 1969) I thought the coolest place to visit was Tomorrowland at Disneyland," says Charles Phoenix.

Meals on Wheels of Boulder, CO delivered its first 15 meals in 1969 and pet-oriented child psychology was studied in the same year.

That year Vietnam continued, former President Lyndon B. Johnson delivered his State of the Union farewell address, the Saturday Evening Post folded, the Copacabana Girls were history, the movie "Rosemary's Baby" premiered, Valeria Solanis was accused of shooting Andy Warhool, and the TV show "Hawaii Five-O" moved up in the ratings.
